NSE AND CYPRUS TO DO DUAL LISTING TO COLLABORATE BETWEEN European companies and GIFT City, Gandhinagar.
In a move aimed at strengthening economic ties and expanding cross-border investment opportunities, the NSE International Exchange at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE). The agreement paves the way for dual listings and enhanced collaboration in financial research and outreach programmes.
The MoU seeks to create new investment corridors between India and Europe, allowing European firms to tap into India’s growing capital markets through the GIFT City platform. It also promises to give Indian and Cypriot investors broader access to financial instruments and improved market connectivity.
Ashish Kumar Chauhan, Managing Director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange, described the agreement as a major milestone. Speaking to ANI, he said, “NSE International Exchange at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, which is India’s face to the world, and Cyprus Stock Exchange, to do dual listing as well as research and outreach programmes on various financial instruments to create collaboration between European companies and GIFT City, Gandhinagar. This is going to open a new chapter in Cyprus-India relations going forward.”
Through dual listings, companies operating in Cyprus will gain visibility and access to capital from Indian markets via the NSE International Exchange. At the same time, Indian investors will benefit from a broader range of global investment opportunities.
This development follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Cyprus. During the trip, PM Modi participated in a high-level roundtable in Limassol with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and key business leaders from both countries.
